Day 6: (Ab)normal Days

When Monobear mocked those left behind, Adda tensed.  Doing something like that in front of her disrespected her profession, her father, her friends, and Oscar.  Her eye shot down, focused on the floor, and her pace quickened ever so slightly.  They were too close for her to succumb to anger now.

Duobear reached the end of the path, and the front of the sidewalk. They joined the end of the gauntlet, Black going to the right, and White to the left.

"End of the line!" Black said happily, looking at the sidewalk. White was looking at them all. "Get outta here. We're proud of ya."

Adda turned to Duobear and smiled.

"Thank you so much.  I don't know if this is the right response, but... best of luck.  To you two and David.  Thank you."

Holding Marci's hand tight, she began to sprint.  She stumbled a ton, and slipped on a few wet spots, but she managed to keep her composure over all, head turned back to watch for the others.

The moment Herbert stepped fully over the sidewalk, he froze for a second, processing what just happened.

And then he booked it.

Marci stumbled after, nodding to the twin bears and running after Adda, trying not to stumble. She smiled and laughed. "We're out...we're really out!"

Laura turned around and looked up at Eloise, a halfhearted smile plastered on her face.

"This is it, Elly, now or never to show your racing skills!" She looked at the people walking ahead of her. "Follow Adds and Marc, they look like she knows where she's going!"

Eloise closed her eyes as the sidewalk approached, she wouldn't let anything else distract her.

Finally she reached the end of the line.

"Thanks!" She shouted to duobear, giving them a brief wave. Wasting no time she grabbed onto the handles of Laura's wheelchair, "Let's go!" And she ran, throwing her entire weight in front of her. It was almost dangerous, but they were much safer now.

Adda was afraid to stop running, but was also not the most physically fit.  She began to gasp for breath, but her beaming smile wouldn't fade.  Until she began to think.

"We can't just...live normal lives after...this!"  She huffed between words, feeling like she wouldn't be heard if she didn't raise her voice.

The two bears waved as everyone left. White walked over and grabbed hands with Black, who looked over and smiled. "T-they're all okay. Huh. T-that's good." They faced the Monobear army. "H-huh, guess it's t-time. S-send Davey a message."

White did so - it was short and concise.

Black looked at White and White looked at Black. "R-remember how to d-do it? It's b-been awhile."

White nodded. Black nodded back.

"I'm s-scared. D-do we have to?" Black blubbered. White stared - they both already knew the answer. They were the beginning of the chain reaction - a rather explosive one. They didn't have a choice. They had to.

White started ticking. A second later, Black did the same.
 
"B-bye, White." Black said, it's eyes starting to work. Three.

White's audio system crackled on. "Bye, Black." it said softly. Two.

They looked at the Monobear army. One.

Zero.

The only things that remained after the explosion were two hands, joined together.
