Day 4: Abnormal Days

She nodded. "We can do this. We can." She took Adda's hand and stood up. "Come on, let's not be late."

Adda held her friend's hand tightly as they walked through the hall to the elevator. It all came down to this.

"Quit tha sappy poo poo, ah found somethin' that points us to tha murderer in Oscar's room." he said, making his frown go deeper. "I'll tell ya more at tha trial, but ah know exactly who et was." he paused for a second to see how they would react and if he had to say something to follow up.

Asher refused to meet Herbert's eyes.

"Then we'll discuss it there. We won't keep you guys waiting, promise." There was a dismissive tone to his voice.

Laura shifted uncomfortably, hoping Herbert would leave soon. "Like Asher said, that's great, I'm sure we'll all have a great time discussing it at the trial. But if you don't mind, me and him really need to finish talking."

He followed after the two, taking calm strides towards the elevator. This wasn't going to be a problem, he hoped. Sure, he didn't have an alibi whatsoever, but he hopes his friends would realize that he wasn't a complete buttmunch.

He laughed a bit. Could he use his gross bedhead as evidence to the fact he actually slept? Probably not.

Herbert gave a small laugh, smirking almost contemptuously, a rather disturbing glint in his eyes. "Es that so?" He said, raising and eyebrow and tilting his head. "Ah don't wanna make yer last conversation ah bad one."

With another laugh, he turned and started to go down the hall. He hoped Eloise didn't faint. Especially on the stairs. He didn't need another dead person.

As Herbert walked away, Asher looked to the ground.

"Well, then. I guess we should get going. You...uh... want a lift?"

Eloise just stood in the hallway before waving Herbert away.
She noted that Laura had just left her room and she wondered absently what they found in there. She felt a bit dizzier.

Creeping down the hallway, she kept an ear out for any arguments. She knew Hebert was looking for one. But all had grown quiet, and Eloise began to half-skip half-stumble down the stairs.

Laura looked down and to the side, a little awkward after Herbert's interruption. "Oh, I thought... Alright, yeah. Let's do that!" She tried her best to perk up. "There'll be plenty of time for talking later."

Asher scooped her up with much less enthusiasm then he had the other times.

"Sure thing, then." Making sure to not let her leg bounce too much, he quickly made his way to the elevator, ignoring those he passed. He gently put her down and then, after glancing to the sides to see if anyone was around, kissed her lightly on the forehead before running to the other side of the elevator.

She stopped in front of the elevator and took a deep breath. She let go of Adda's hand and looked down - down the shaft, where arguments were waiting, and inevitably, someone's death.

"You know, I just suddenly realized that this may be a lot harder than I thought it was going to be. But we can still do this, right? We're going be fine." She looked to Adda for something - some kind of moral support.

Herbert had an almost confident stride and grin as he made his way to the elevator. There were a few other students that he passed, but he paid them no mind. He was set and ready for this trial. Nobody was gonna kill him.
And for once, he actually had a bearing in this situation. The feeling was exhilarating.

Adda smiled to her, placing one hand on the goggles and the other on Marci's shoulder.

"Of course we can still do this. We may be the 'nerds', but that means if anyone can figure this out, it'll be us."

Laura stood rigid with her crutches at her side of the elevator. Her biggest problem at the moment was whether or not her blushing would be blushing noticable to the rest of the students that got into the elevator. It was odd, but she felt more sane than before; she realized that she could be in love, just like any other normal teenager. That only made her blush even more.

She really smiled for the first time since she'd been locked up in this hellhole. She nodded. "You're right. Thank you."

Finally, Eloise reached the front of the elevator, joining the slowly growing crowd. She teetered a bit, giddy.

"Funny thing, right up the stairs next to here, we got new rooms," She pointed out, looking vaguely at a staircase by the students, "There was a Rec Room...Oh, and a laboratory."

"Are we going inside now?"

David walked to the elevator and looked at everyone curiously. What was on their minds, he wondered, then realized they were thinking the same thing he was. They were wondering who the heck did it. Some of them probably already knew, which was a relief. Shorter the trial was, the better. He looked at everyone, counting heads. One, two, three, four, five, six, and counting himself, seven.

Soon it'd be six, he realized. He called out. "That's everyone, are we going down?"

Once all the students were inside, the doors automatically closed and the elevator made it's slow way down.
