Day One: (Ab)normal Days

Adda glanced at the paper, perplexed. She shook her head.
"Without knowing anything about the author, or the context, its nearly impossible to begin to guess what it could say. It's obviously a letter or message, but that's about all I could get. Sorry." She frowned, hoping to have been of more help. She finished off her oatmeal, as to not let it get cold.
"What about you guys? Any guesses?" She asked to Marci, Oscar, and Jaden.

She peered over the note curiously looking it over carefully.
"Hm, this is bizarre. May I ask where you found it?" she had an idea, but she figured it was best to leave any aces up her sleeve until later. "I can't quite make it out as is because too much is smeared, but maybe if I had some sort of other information I could do a bit better."

In her room, Eloise threw the pillows and blankets back onto her bed, with little regard to their organization. Something to keep her occupied later.
The room had an elegant feel, with dark wood floors and deep red sheets on her bed resembling a curtain. Her entire room felt like a stage. Closets crowded one wall of her room as well as a neat little desk.

The pitstop didn't last long, Eloise was soon in the cafeteria.
She grabbed a tray and decorated it with buttered toast and apples. There were several people on her list of meet and greet but Eloise didn't quite feel like interupting conversations like usual. Instead, she aggressively marched over to David's seat, going in for the kill. She would introduce herself to this mysterious student or god help her.
"Good morning, I don't think I caught your name. Mine's Eloise," She grinned.

Over his initial shock of receiving guests at the table, Oscar turned to face the two.
Jaden's ego was an especially intimidating foe and Oscar was unsure of how to respond, taking him much too seriously.

"Oh, I, Uhh...J-Jaden? That's cool! I like...dancing..." Oscar stumbled over his words, then crammed a poppy seed muffin into his mouth before embarassing himself further.
He didn't even attempt a humiliating discussion with Herbert, and he looked over Marci's shoulder to look at the note.

"It was on that nurse's body." he scoffed.
"At least I got a laugh off yer faces. Har. First time you saw a body, I reckon?" He smirked, somewhat knowingly.
So far, they didn't know. Which was all the reason fro him to be a little rude and condescending. He thought they were the smart ones.

Rocking back and forth in his chair, Asher began to grow impatient. The silence at this table was slowly killing him before anyone else would get the chance. He had already occupied himself with revealing the smiling tiger on his plate, and was determined to start some conversation.

"Sooo.... did you dream about me last night?" He asked Laura jokingly, trying to break the silent tension.

Jaden took a look at the paper and frowned. What the heck was it even supposed to be? The dang thing made no sense, and coming from Herbert, Jaden could care even less about it. "Shut up you loving jerk. This isn't a joke," he said, glaring directly into Herbert's eyes. Then he turned to the other three.

"I doubt he got it from the nurse. The moron probably just wrote it in his sleep and forgot about it or something. There's really no reason to worry over it."

He jumped a bit at Eloise's sudden introduction and nearly choked on his cereal. How on earth was she so quiet? Was that part of her job or something...wait, what was her level thing again?
"W-when did you..." he shook his head and sighed. "Name's David, nice to meet you, Eloise. Uh...I may have forgotten what your super level thingy was." he let out a small grin. "Mind reminding me?"

"You checked her body, then? You must be used to that, as a Game Hunter and all." she said, not taking her eyes of the note. "The nurse, huh...perhaps she's Mrs. Garcia? That's the only thing I could possibly guess on, and even that's a guess. Sorry."

Herbert quickly pulled the paper away. The little wanker...
"You think I'd be the one doin' funny business? I'm not the one jumpin' like some monkey for money- I'd be shootin' them!" he hissed, visibly bristling as his free hand rose to his chest level.
"An last time I checked, yah weren't even in the conversation, so bugger off with that half assed buzz cut."

Laura made an expression of total shock at Asher and immediately hopped into the seat next to him. She rested her elbows on the table and linked her hands under her chin, leaning forward earnestly. "Oh my god, how did you know! Please tell me you don't also know about what I did towards the end..." As her voice trailed off, her gaze slipped down towards Asher's chest. She smiled even brighter, then looked back up and Asher and stared directly into his eyes.

"Do you want me to tell you what it was?"

Adda nodded, having come to the same conclusion as Marci. She faced her, placing her empty glass on the table. She scooted her chair a little bit away from Herbert before starting

"So, what do you plan to do today? Anything interesting?" She asked, trying to get some inspiration for her own plans.

Asher was dumbfounded. Girls never responded to his remarks before. Well, he had never actually been around any girls his age to try his lines on before, but he was sure any would've scoffed and walked away. He tipped his hat over his eyes, "Well, I'm one for one, let's see if I can keep my streak-"he burst out laughing. This line was way cooler in his head.

"Sorry if that was rude to say, I don't know much about game hunting. Perhaps you could give us a group lesson one day so we don't offend you like that again." she said with a smug smile and a shrug. She knew it was probably a bad idea to provoke him, but she simply couldn't resist.

She looked over to Adda. "I was planning on checking out the Courtyard, and perhaps a few of the classrooms. I'd like to know where everything is, after all."

All at once, images of the nurse flashed in Oscar's mind again and he choked on his muffin.
"Mrs. Garcia..." He ran the name through his mind a few times but no dice.

Instinctively, he got a little defensive, "I-I dissected a body before! I went to this course at a college and..." He got the impression this wasn't the discussion for breakfast. He also disregarded the fact he threw up. He threw up again because he didn't want to leave, and he was escorted to the nurse. It didn't go well.

"Well I was hoping to go the courtyard...I think it sounds cool."

Jaden scowled at Herbert, and stood up out of his chair. "You wanna call me a monkey again you punk?" He said menacingly, completely losing control of his temper. "Come on Oliver, you know how to fight? Let's take care of this sorry sack of bones right now." He cracked his knuckles and waited for Herbert to make a move.

"No one else has been to the courtyard yet, right? So it'd be neat to see what kind of stuff is in there!" She beamed. A whole day couldn't be filled with just a couple rooms, but then again, they could easily be sidetracked. Not what she had thought her second day at Hope's Peak would be like, but now a peaceful day like this was just what she needed.

Herbert turned sideways, laughing bitterly at Jaden's threat. he ignored practically everything else. He could see the threat already, and he knew any funny business could be pinned on him if Jaden ended up dead. He'd need someone to be around until things simmered down.
"I don't go beatin' up kids who don't know what it's like to even be in a fight. I ain't no sadist." He hissed, his voice low and steady. Though he kept his stance predominantly defensive. If the kid lunged, he'd be sure to break something to set an example. Maybe one of his precious legs.

Laura giggled, and backed off. "At the end, I left the room to go to a dirt biking competition. Too bad, I really think there was a connection!" She finished, pretending to have a longing look in her eyes. "So what's up? Been thinking about everything that happened yesterday? It was certainly a lot to take in."

Joking aside, Laura really wanted to get another opinion on what was going on from one of the other students. It scared her that she had no idea how her classmates had internally reacted to what that creepy bear said.

"I-? what-?" Oscar was taken back completely.

"Wait! You guys can't-" He found himself standing up defensively, holding his hands up over his chest.

"Agreed, Adda, I'm pretty sure no one's been to the courtyard yet, and if someone has, well, I haven't heart about it!" she shrugged and smiled. "Alright then, Adda, Oscar!" she tugged the boy's arm a bit meeting his eyes for a second, "Let's get going to the courtyard, okay?"

"Yesterday was... something. A freak show, but not the kind I've been to. The only freak here is that bear. We've all got big reps outside, so I'm honestly not too worried. Someone's gonna notice we're gone, and I know that my buds back home are going to be freaking out since I didn't give them a day-one report on school. I trust everyone for now, at least enough to last until someone busts us out. That is..." he glanced at the beginnings of a brawl across the cafeteria.
"That is, I trust most of us. That one guy is just too damn confrontational for my liking." He folded his arms and leaned back.

Jaden smirked. "Coward," he said, a small grin forming on the corner of his lips. "That's ok, I'm not a charity service, so I won't be the one to grant you a quick death. You'll have to wait for one of the other eight kids here that can't stand your loving guts."

Confident with his retort, Jaden turned around and put his hands on Oscar's shoulders. "Easy there, Oliver. I mean Oscar. I ain't about to fight this lunatic. Come on, you guys said the courtyard, right? That sounds good."

Eloise tore a bite from her toast.

"Royalty." She said, her mouth full, a completely straight face otherwise.
"What's it like being a chaffeur?" She leaned in, her memory much better than David's, "Driving people around huh? Bet you get to go places, hmm?" She bombarded him with several banal questions, in a manner that seemed a bit too forward.

Adda scooped up her dishes, along with the empty ones left by her friends.
"I'll just take these over to the kitchen real quick, and then we can head out if everyone's ready!" She called over her shoulder, heading towards the kitchen.
